Alerts FAQ

System Settings

Many of the system settings are dangerous so we keep them disabled unless you manually enable them with the Change button. These settings are only available to Administrators.

DDPER Endpoint Service

These two settings determine the protocol and port that the User Interface uses to communicate with the service. You should only set this if you're planning to install a new application that you know requires the DDPER port.

Database Settings

Thse four values determine how we communicate with the PostgreSQL service. Change these only if you plan to connect to an already-installed copy of PostgreSQL. In general you shouldn't need to change these.

Notifier

Select which jobs pop up messages. Also, determine when the Notifier (the system tray application) pops up messages. That can also be done in the Notifier right-mouse menu.

Program Settings

Use the Save button to save all program settings into a single file for backup. This requires a password for security.

Use the Restore button to restore all saved program settings. This is designed for disaster recovery and computer migration. Doing this will reset all user accounts and all defined Destinations so do this carefully and only if a disaster has wiped out your settings.

Windows Event Log

Select which events generate Windows Event Log messages. Currently these are set during startup, shutdown, and backup failures.
