User InterfaceDetailed Explanations |
Advanced SettingsThese settings are only available to Administrators. Service PriorityWhen set to foreground, the DDPER service runs as a typical foreground application and it may use a substantial amount of resources during some backup operations. When set to background, DDPER will be kinder about stealing computer resources. If other applications are also running in the foreground they will get first call on resources. Stop BackupWhen your battery is low backups can be unpleasant battery hogs. Set a limit so that backups won't start when the battery is below the limit. Network BandwidthWhen you are 'at home' (or at the office) on a fast connection DDPER won't usually use a significant amount of the available bandwidth. You may still want to limit bandwidth usage. When away or on a metered connection you may also want to limit the bandwidth usage. These settings restrict the bandwidth used by DDPER. Lowering the bandwidth affects backups (and restores) to/from network locations. DDPER decides if you are away by looking at your network connection. If it is a public network then we assume you are away. If it is a private network we assume you are home. CDP Backup Sweep IntervalWhen you have a backup policy that does continuous file monitoring, that policy also creates a regular 'sweep' backup just in case you turn off your computer and we lose a file change. That sweep backup runs every 6 hours by default but you may change the interval here. Wake UpEnable this setting to have the PC wake up from sleep in order to run backups. The display will not turn on, but the CPU will power up enough to perform a backup. Not long after that the computer will go back to sleep. Note that this is dependent on your PC Power Settings. In Control Panel you can change this for your current power plan in the Advanced Settings, Sleep, Allow wake timers = Enable to allow this. This feature is still new and our experience is that on some wireless laptops the wakeup is happening before the wireless connects, so you may wish to avoid this with wireless laptops until we smooth it out. Log SettingsIn general, don't change the log settings. These are primarily for customer support folks who need to diagnose problems with DDPER on your system. Setting the Log Level to Verbose can quickly create very large system logs. The higher the log level, the more is placed into the system log. The maximum size variable just affects how large we let a single log file grow before switching to a new log file. Clear HistoryClick this button to bring up a dialog that lets you remove historical data and logs to save storage and clean up folders. The data is filtered by data, so you can clear old historical data. Collect Support InformationClick this button to create a Support Bundle containing computer information and recent log files. This bundle is generally email or sent to support in order to help us diagnose problems.
