Alerts FAQ

Email Settings

The settings on this page determine how email is sent for alerts. These settings are only available to Administrators.

Sender

Sender Name (your name) and Email (your email address) are visible on the received email. When an alert email is generated these display as the sender name and address.

Email Server

These settings specify the email server that you are using to send with.

Email Server

Name or IP address of the email server to connect to.

Username

The name used to log in to the email server. This may be your email user name if using your email server.

Password

The password used to log in to the email server. If this is your email server it is your email password.

Email Server Port

There are a number of standard ports depending on the protocol. Some email servers use custom port values. Check with your email provider.

Standard unencrypted (SMTP) mail port is 25. A standard SSL/TLS mail port is 587.

Security Protocol

SMTP is an unencrypted mail protocol commonly used. SSL and TLS are both encrypted mail protocols. If possible, we automatically select between SSL and TLS so you can pick one or the other for most encrypted connections.

Proxy Settings

If you use an email proxy your IT manager would know the Server name/IP and the Port value to use as the proxy.
